Brake dust and airborne metal particles embed themselves in the clearcoat and oxidise there. The paint feels rough to the touch and becomes speckled with orange spots that washing will not remove.
Iron decontamination dissolves these particles chemically, then the surface is clayed until it is perfectly smooth again. It is an essential first step before any paint correction, ceramic coating or film.
